Breaking The Chuck Hagel Filibuster

Eighteen Republicans supported moving to a final vote, joining 53 Democrats. The Republicans who supported ending the Hagel filibuster can be fouund via the American Conservative at the roll call blog.

Just four Republicans crossed the political divide to back Hagel as he won a 58 to 41 vote in America's upper chamber. They were Thad Cochran of Mississippi, Mike Johanns of Nebraska, Richard Shelby from Alabama and Rand Paul from Kentucky.

What this says about the internal dynamics of the Republican party concerning foreign policy read my previous post on the Chuck Hagel confirmation battle 'James Inhofe marginalising himself and his agenda'.

Peter Weber has a collection of what people thought about this.
