Yesterday Dambisa Moyo the writer of "Dead Aid" was in Rwanda to talk about how to develop long-term sustainable growth independent of foreign aid.
Off course, this was no accident. Paul Kagame is using Dambisa Moyo in his public relations strategy. Didn't several countries, like the Netherlands, cut budgetsupport to Rwanda two months ago, because of the Rwandan involvement in Congo?
In her diary she off course does not mention this obvious angle to the story, which does not surprise me.
Dambisa Moyo is by some considered the anti-Bono because of her objection to foreign aid. She is talking alot about microfinance, which is a very popular subject today in development circles. We should all be cautious in thinking microfinance to be the final solution. Myself I find much more appealing the approach by Shanda Tonme in his article against Bono "All Rock, No Action".
